One of the most buzzed about bands from Canadian Music Week is heading to the west coast before jet setting off to Europe. Lucky for us Vancouver Island folk, Half Moon Run is hitting up Victoria’s Lucky Bar and Nanaimo’s Rendez-Vous in promotion of their album, Dark Eyes.
I found Dark Eyes the perfect background music for writing to but also for throwing on when I’m having friends over for drinks and a hang out. Because they’re good for both work and play, it’ll be fun to witness what they’ll sound like live when I see them at Lucky Bar next week. But the album in my headphones is charming: a delightful combination of folky and moody. Plus, you can also appreciate a band that incorporates harmonies so beautifully.
What they sound like: Fleet Foxes with a hint of good rock (a la Hey Rosetta! perhaps?) and a pinch of electro. Sounds complicated? No, sounds harmonious.
